In the 1980s and early 1990s, I was engrossed with technical theatre and decided to pursue it as a career. Five years of studies at UW-Eau Claire resulted in a BA in Theatre Arts. I then moved to Madison to work towards a MFA in Scenic Design, but life happened and I burned out. I've never come back to it and have made peace with that decision.

I was mainly interested in set design, but also did a lot of work with stage props, and a little bit less with lighting and makeup design. Lots of long hours building sets, constructing furniture, painting, hanging lights, making masks, sitting through rehearsals. I also worked as many shows as I could as stage crew of various sorts, and got to spend some time on the "other side" assistant directing and stage managing. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

Link subpages here, too - how to do that?
